Marakos on dean’s list at Tufts University
Sarah Marakos, of Linwood, class of 2015, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Tufts University. Students must have a semester grade-point average of 3.4 or greater to qualify.
Edwards on dean’s list at Rhode Island
Anne T. Edwards, of Linwood, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at the University of Rhode Island.
To qualify, Students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.3 quality-point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.3 quality-point average.
Residents in summer scholars program
Local residents have given up summer vacation to remain on campus at St. Joseph’s University as a member of the Summer Scholars Program. The following students will engage in faculty-mentored research and creative projects at the university this summer:
Monique Uy, of Somers Point, a psychology/philosophy major, will work with James Boettcher, Ph.D., on their topic, “Analysis and application of a multilingual state with liberal multiculturalism.”
Sarah Bell, of Linwood, a mathematics major, will work with Tetyana Berezovski, Ph.D., on their topic, “Geometry for teachers: Investigation into mathematical knowledge for teaching.”
The program, which runs for 11 weeks May-August, requires students to work exclusively with a faculty member to produce a written description of their research that will be published by the university, and to present their findings next spring during the Celebration of Student Achievement event. For their work, students receive a stipend, on-campus housing, and the opportunity to participate in social and educational programs.
Hennessy on dean’s list at Loyola, Md.
Students on the spring 2013 dean’s list at Loyola University Maryland included Grayce Hennessy, of Northfield a member of the class of 2015.
To qualify, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
Conley graduates, named to dean’s list
Samantha Conley, of Northfield, an occupational therapy major, graduated from Ithaca College, and was named to dean’s list in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for the spring 2013 semester.
