The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will open its sixth season June 26 with its annual production of "Broadway on the O.C. Boardwalk," a salute to Broadway favorites produced by the upcoming season's cast at the Ocean City Music Pier.

This year's event will include a special guest performer and professional Broadway star Kelli Rabke.

Rabke made her Broadway debut as the narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," which is the production's main female role, followed by the role of Eponine in "Les Miserables."

The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company founder and artistic director Michael Hartman said the company is thrilled to have Rabke headlining this year's "Broadway on the Boardwalk" event. She will perform six songs, including two medleys from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "On My Own" from "Les Miserables," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz," "Stranger to the Rain" from "Garden of Eden" and "The Story Goes On" from "Baby."

"I more excited than you can imagine," said Rabke, who had been away from the stage for some time raising her family, but has recently been getting back to it, doing fundraiser shows and small performances. "I can't wait to perform songs that mean so much to me. It's going to be like 'Kelli Rabke's Greatest Hits.'"

Rabke also will share her personal experiences on Broadway with the GOCTC audience and interact with GOCTC's Junior Company.

"The opportunity to interact with a true professional in the industry is a life-changing moment," Hartman said. "Rabke has wonderful intuition on the importance on the arts in education, which is also something we also value deeply."

The annual "Broadway on the O.C. Boardwalk" production acts as a celebratory kickoff to the company's season.

"It's like one big preview revue to get everyone excited. It's fun because everyone we will be performing the best of the best Broadway hits, the ones we all know and love," Hartman said. "It's also a nice way for us to connect with our fans and to make some new fans who are passing by on the Boardwalk and wander in."

The 2013 season will officially begin July 3 with the opening of "Sounds of Hollywood," a song and dance musical revue through Hollywood hits and movie magic show conceived by John Anker Bo.

"Sounds of Hollywood" will run through the summer season, which is a first for the company, as it typically runs its shows for only a few days, and it will be held at newly reopened Moorlyn Family Theatre at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk, with performances set for 7:30 p.m. July 3, 17 and 24 and Aug. 7.

Then on July 7, 9 and 10, the cast GOCTC will perform "Singing in the Rain," a collaboration with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra.
