OCPTA presents Shopping Extravaganza
Shop from 25 local vendors while supporting the Ocean City PTA, a 501c3 nonprofit whose proceeds directly benefit the educational resources and needs of the children in the OC School District.
Every vendor will advert a coupon or offer. Pizza and concessions will be available for purchase. For a list of vendors, go to teacherweb.com/NJ/OceanCityPublicSchool/ OceanCityPTA/newsflash.aspx. Event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ocean City Intermediate School at 1801 Bay Ave.
Holiday festival coming up
The Ocean City Free Public Library and the Ocean City Historical Museum, both in the city’s Community Center, 1735 Simpson Ave., will host a joint Holiday Festival on Sunday, Dec. 9.
The event will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and will include Christmas crafts and acitivities for kids and other holiday treats.
Police announce safety campaign
Ocean City Police are conducting a zero-tolerance traffic safety awareness campaign through the 2012-13 holiday season.
Each week has a designated issue, to educate and raise awareness in the community and make Ocean City safer, and the laws will be enforced with a zero-tolerance policy. They include the following: week of Dec. 3, cellphone use/distracted driving; week of Dec. 10, equipment and inspection violations; week of Dec. 17, seat belt/child restraint laws; week of Dec. 24, careless driving/following too closely; week of Jan. 3, speeding.
Rescue squad offers Nixle communication updates
The Upper Township Rescue Squad is using a new communications service to send important community information directly to residents.
The Nixle Community Information Service allows the squad to give subscribed residents instant information via cell phone text message and email. Notifications also can be accessed at nixle.com.
Messages may include traffic advisories during major incidents, squad announcements, and safety and community event information.
Subscribers can choose the method in which they receive the updates.
