Library to host children’s balloon show
Zoom Balloons with Earl Hicks will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. The program will be in Room 110 (Lecture Room). Zoom Balloons is an interactive program with Hicks creating balloon animals and objects and engaging kids with humor and magic.
Dog of Year Contest scheduled
The Dog of the Year Contest is under way in Ocean City. Photos of the contestants are on view in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace and at Stainton’s, Eighth Street and Asbury Avenue, by the back door vestibule. Drop some money in the container for your favorite or favorites. Containers are located at various stores in Ocean City. The winner will be named on Oct. 28 during a get together at the Port O’ Call, 15th and Boardwalk. There will also be a Halloween Costume Contest, which your dog is invited to enter. Walk for Wounded planned
Ocean City Home Bank and Operation First Response, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to wounded soldiers and their families, will present the fourth annual Walk for the Wounded at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Registration will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier.
The event has raised more than $125,000 to help injured soldiers. It raises funds for Operation First Response through pledges solicited by individual walkers and teams of walkers, as well as event sponsorships and fees for advertisements in the event’s dedication booklet. All proceeds will benefit Operation First Response, a national nonprofit organization.
