Used book sale planned
The Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library are holding a summer used book sale in the Ocean City Free Public Library Atrium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Books, videos, puzzles, etc. will be available.
Realtors holding plant sale
The Ocean City Board of Realtors has announced its annual summer plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 at 27th Street and West Avenue.
Annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, flowering bushes, vegetables and flats will be available for sale with proceeds benefiting the Ocean City Waves of Caring Project. Presale orders are available, visit the office of the Ocean City Board of Realtors at 405 22nd St. or call 609-399-0128 for more information.
Sailing foundation to host open house
The Ocean City Sailing Foundation will host is third annual Open House from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 at the Bayside Center, 520 Bay Ave., Ocean City.
The open house is intended to explain to visitors the sailing programs OCFS offers and provide anyone who wishes a free 15-minute sailboat ride. Also this year, OCSF will introduce new Sailing Director Pat Leonardo. He was a sailing consultant for 15 years at Notre Dame University and founded the St. Augustine High School sailing team.
TED Talk looks at timely issue
The Ocean City Free Public Library will hold the next TED Talk at 11 a.m. June 22 in the library auditorium. In a topical talk from TED Global, Rebecca MacKinnon describes the expanding struggle for freedom and control in cyberspace and asks, “How do we design the next phase of the Internet with accountability and control at its core.”
She believes the Internet is headed for a Magna Carta moment when citizens around the world demand that their governments protect free speech and their right to protection.
‘Aging, Medication’ workshop set
Cape Assist will sponsor an Aging and Medication workshop, funded by Ocean City Home Bank, from 10 to 11 a.m. June 25 at the Upper Township Community Center located at 1790 Route 50, Tuckahoe.
