Body language is topic of TED Talk
The next TED Talk will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Ocean City Free Public Library with social psychologist Amy Cuddy showing how body language affects not only how others see us, but it also may change how we see ourselves, even having an impact on our chances for success.
Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. Each talk is followed by open discussion.
Historical society meeting
The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will welcome new members at its first big event of the spring season, the covered dish supper and show-and-tell event March 12 at the Tuckahoe Methodist Church. The event starts at 7 p.m. and all are welcome. Each family attending is asked to bring a vegetable, bread, or casserole. The Board of Trustees provides the meat, beverages, and deserts.
Most members also bring some historic artifact that will interest the other members, for example, World War II memorabilia, a set of china that a great grandmother brought in from another country when she immigrated, old photographs of the area, muskrat traps, a vase from the wreck of the Sindia, carpentry tools, kitchen utensils, and a variety of ‘guess what this is’ items.
