Fine Arts League sponsors free movies at library

The Ocean City Fine Arts League presents free pre-screened films featuring artists and art trends every month through June 2013.

Movies are shown at 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. Upcoming shows include: Jan. 8, “Chicago”; Feb. 5, “Italian for Beginners”; March 5, “Julie and Julia”; April 2, “Searching for Bobby Fischer”; May 7, “Finding Neverland”; June 11, “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

Gallery reopens

The Ocean City Fine Arts League has reopened the Art on Asbury Gallery at 608 Asbury Ave.

In January, the gallery will feature the work of the Art on Asbury judges, who volunteered to judge shows through the year. Featured artists include Marilyn Brent, Lance Balderson, Michael Waters, Steve Kuzma, Paula Angelo and Judy Scull. A meet-the-artist reception will take place 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free. The show runs through January.

Art on Asbury artists also will show their work in January at the Ocean City Art Center, 17th and Simpson, for the 14th Street Fishing Pier Show. The reception is 7:30 to 9 p.m., immediately following the Art on Asbury reception.
