As the massive rebuilding of the Route 52 causeway and bridges into Ocean City nears its full opening to auto traffic, the city Chamber of Commerce will present an overview Thursday of the project’s final phases from its planners, engineers and builders.
Representatives from the state Department of Transportation, the engineering firm M. Baker Corp. and the construction company Rt. 52 Constructors will provide the update and answer questions from the public. The luncheon will be held at the Ocean City Yacht Club.
The three entities have been providing the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce with annual updates, and this will be the final such presentation.
The state’s $400 million project is replacing the Route 52 bridges and roadway between Somers Point and Ocean City, and eliminating the traffic circle in Somers Point. When finished, it will greatly increase the capacity of traffic to and from the resort in the summer, as well as provide an emergency evacuation route.
