Michael Scusa, of the Villas section of Lower Township, was one of eight soldiers killed Oct. 3, 2009, in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked a contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenades and indirect fire. They were assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
