Atlantic Cape athletes honored for academics

Atlantic Cape Community College student-athletes Abdul Abubakar, of Egg Harbor Township, Danielle Kebert, of North Cape May, Kerry Player, of Woodbine, and Sarah Street, of Egg Harbor City, have received national academic awards by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their exemplary achievement during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Player, 20, is a center on the women’s basketball team and an outside hitter on the volleyball team. She earned a 3.6 GPA. From 2011-2013, she led the nation in blocked shots, scored 671 points and 588 rebounds and earned positions on the first and second All-Region and All-Conference teams.

Abigail Jamison, of Palermo, graduated with honors from James Madison University during the May 4 commencement exercises in Harrisonburg, Va., and was named to the president’s list for the spring 2013 semester.

Robinson on dean’s list at Rochester Tech

Haley Robinson, of Marmora, a first-year student in the ASL-English interpretation program in the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Two named to dean’s list

Madeline Price, of Ocean City, and Caroline Jaquett, of Seaville, were named to the Spring 2013 Dean’s List at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Carter graduates

Michael Carter, of Marmora, earned a master of science in church management from Villanova University in Pennsylvania during spring commencement in May 19.

Students graduate from Delaware Valley College

Eugene Burnell and Julie Burnell, both of Seaville, were among the May 2013 graduates at Delaware Valley College.

Delaware Valley College is an independent, multi-disciplinary college with property in Bucks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania. It offers more than 20 undergraduate majors, five master’s programs and a variety of adult education courses.

Gillespie on dean’s list at University of Scranton

Olivia Gillespie, of Ocean City, a freshman with an English major in Scranton’s College of Arts and Sciences, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours.
