If Motown would relocate to Los Angeles, it would produce a band like Fitz and the Tantrums.

Fun but not overwhelming, the six-piece up-and-comers offered a solid midday set with its unique songwriting by bandleader Michael Fitzpatrick, a dynamic frontman who knows how to keep the crowd engaged.

At the same time Saturday, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds drew at least five times more than the Tantrums did Sunday, but the several thousand that did watch mostly seemed to enjoy themselves, particularly for the band's punky cover of The Eutythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," which was more entertaining than the original version, as well as the finale, "MoneyGrabber," a hit song that had the crowd dancing.
