GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Students at Absegami High School will be dismissed early Tuesday after several pipes burst at the school, according to messages sent out to parents and employees around 10 a.m. 

"We have had several pipes burst due to extreme temperatures," reads a message posted on the district website.

Tuesday was the first day back for students in the Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District after winter break. According to the message, after-school sports and activities will be canceled. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. 

More information on the severity of the water damage at the school and the number of pipes affected was not immediately available.

Greater Egg Harbor Regional Superintendent John Keenan said Absegami will open for a normal day Wednesday.
