A Bridgeton patrol officer Wednesday afternoon spotted smoke and flames coming from the window of the high rise at 110 E. Commerce St. The officer heard yelling from a balcony and went to the sixth floor. Police said Bruce A. Cisrow was hanging from a window and threatening to jump, police said.

Police said Ciscrow threw a chair from a bathroom window when the Bridgeton Fire Department arrived, nearly striking a firefighter. Firefighters entered the apartment and removed the man, who was secured by police and taken to Inspira in Bridgeton for evaluation, police said.

He was later lodged in the Cumberland County jail.
