Gov. Chris Christie spoke for about 20 minutes during Stockton University’s official groundbreaking Thursday for the Atlantic City Gateway Project. He Christie noted the project will generate 925 construction jobs and 300 permanent jobs in Atlantic City.

Gov. Chris Christie will attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the Atlantic City Gateway Project at 11:30 a.m Thursday on the Boardwalk between Albany Avenue and Roosevelt Place.

The event will be hosted by the Atlantic City Development Corporation (AC Devco). The Gateway Project includes a new headquarters for South Jersey Gas as well as an Atlantic City campus for Stockton University in the Chelsea section of the city.

This 675,000-square-foot project represents an investment of some $220 million in the city.

Master of Ceremonies for the program is AC Devco Chairman Jon Hanson. Speakers include Christie, South Jersey Industries CEO Michael Renna, and Stockton University President Dr. Harvey Kesselman.
