As the country takes steps to combat the national opioid epidemic, Atlantic City is joining a growing list of school districts adopting policies for administering the opioid overdose antidote naloxone.

Last month, the Atlantic City Board of Education considered the first reading of the policy that would put guidelines in place for the school district in administering the drug, commonly referred to by its brand name Narcan.

Similar policies are in effect at Millville, Mainland Regional High School, Egg Harbor Township School District and Ocean City School District.
