Ed McDonald of Atlantic City, an Air Force veteran, was watching the show right below The Pier Shops at Caesars, snapping pictures with his family.

He has been going to airshows for decades. He knew a thing or two about the planes going by overhead, including the surprise aircraft of the day, a V-22 Osprey, which can take off vertically or horizontally.

This year he brought his 9-year-old granddaughter, Keora Roe, also of Atlantic City. She stayed until the Super Hornet jet roared overhead, the deafening noise a little too much for her.

McDonald said this year's show was exciting as usual, but he said he wished the show could also incorporate ground displays, parking jets and helicopters for people to touch while also offering meet-and-greets with the pilots.

"That's my only criticism," he said.
