Joanna and Karlos LaSane

Joanna and Karlos LaSane both broke down barriers during the 1960s.
Joanna appeared in national ad campaigns - and on the cover of Jet magazine.
In 1968, Karlos LaSane became the first African American elected to Atlantic City's City Commission.
The LaSanes remember how important the community was during their childhood - and how everybody looked out for each other.
