Pattie Harris and David Young remember Atlantic City's jazz age - and some of the resort's more sordid moments, too.

David's childhood home connected to the house next to it, through a hidden stairway in each home. Numbers money ran up and down those steps - the illegal, but highly popular daily lotteries celebrated throughout the city.

His wife Pattie danced at Club Harlem during the 1950s and 60s, participating in shows with stars such as Sam Cooke and Sammy Davis, Jr.

She and performer Pearl Bailey shared a love-hate relationship.
