Millville resident Nina Sheppard, 23, during her first day of a six-month physical therapy boot camp at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. Sheppard is one of eight people undergoing extensive physical therapy so researchers with the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis can determine minimum levels of physical therapy persons with paralysis need to be physically fit enouth to undergo further recovery procedures. Sheppard suffered a several spinal cord and other injuries when her car hit a guardrail and flipped while traveling on Route 49 from Tuckahoe to Millville on Nov. 20, 2011. The injury left her paralyzed from the waist down.
