House tour raises $53,000
Almost 1,000 guests toured seven downbeach homes on Aug. 5, during the 26th Annual Jewish Family Service House Tour. This year's event raised more than $53,000 for Older Adult Services.
Trade sponsors from Surroundings Furniture & Design, Scout Clothing & Decor, CVL Designs and Colmar offered guests creative insight, design concepts, and original kitchen ideas. More than 95 volunteers dedicated their day to making the event a success.
Co-chairs were Beth Shor, of Ventnor, and Susan Lutz, of Longport. Sponsors include Revel Casino Hotel, QMA Design + Build, Brandywine Assisted Living at Brandall Estates and many more. Luke Palladino Hospitality Group served food samples to tour attendees.
Raffle prizes included a necklace from Serago Roberts Jewelers, an overnight stay at Revel Casino Hotel, a 100-trip Margate Bridge card, chef's tasting for six guests at a Luke Palladino Restaurant, and courtside 76ers tickets.

Bank Foundation donation
The Ocean City Home Charitable Foundation distributed $30,500 in grants to 11 area charities on July 16. The recipients were: Atlantic Cape Family Support Organization, Atlantic City Ballet, Inc., Boy Scouts of America, Jersey Shore Council, Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial, Court Appointed Special Advocates, (CASA), Contact Cape-Atlantic, Egg Harbor Township Police Athletic League, Faces 4 Autism, Friends of the Ocean City Pops, Marine Mammal Stranding Center, and Ocean City Ecumenical Council, Inc.
Since 2005 the organization has donated more than $830,000 to charitable organizations throughout Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
Realtors donate $2,000
The Ocean City Board of Realtors presented a check for $2,000 to the Waves of Caring Organization, representing the proceeds from the group's annual summer plant sale. Gloria Votta, chair of the Community Service Committee, presented the check to Jim Smith, executive director, of The Waves of Caring.
The plant sale, held at the home of John and Joyce Andrews, featured annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, flowering bushes, vegetables and flats.
Waves of Caring collects donations year-round to support the "grandparent" toy drive, the scholarship fund and emergency family assistance. Waves also provides funds to the Department of Recreation to support children's camps and athletic programs. For assistance call 609-525-9323 and ask for the Public Assistance Office.
The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum recently received a $2,500 contribution from Sturdy Savings Bank to support the museum's expanding Aviation Education Program.
This year NASW operated two youth summer camps along with customized youth and adult educational field trips and tours. The museum will use the funds in conjunction with NASW resources to continue and further develop these programs.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum has more than 26 aircraft displays as well as exhibits of military memorabilia, an air traffic control tower, engines, photographs, and interactive exhibits that allow visitors to discover the science of flight. It is located in Historic Hangar No. 1 at the Cape May Airport.
Club raises $750 for YMCA
The Vineland High School Interact Club recently donated $750 to the YMCA of Vineland. Sanad Ashraf, Interact's immediate past president, Patricia Matias, president, and Michael Bowen, vice president presented the check to YMCA officials.
Melanie Druziako, Rotary Club of Vineland Youth Service director, coordinates Interact activities. She said the group chose the YMCA because it offers programs for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The club has participated in numerous programs at the local YMCA, including Spooktacular, Swim with Santa, Healthy Kids Day, and the Camp Merrywood clean-up.
