Casino Headliners include Lynyrd Skynyrd, B.B. King and Tom Jones
Lynyrd Skynyrd
at Borgata
WHO THEY ARE: Lynyrd Skynyrd rose to fame in the mid-1970s with its gutsy, blues-influenced rock music that told tales of hard times and fast living for the common man. Its hits include "Sweet Home Alabama," "Simple Man" and "Free Bird," which was written as a tribute to Duane Allman. On Oct. 20, 1977, three days after the release of "Street Survivors," a privately chartered plane carrying the band crashed just outside of Gillsburg, Miss., killing lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines. The remaining members of the band were all injured but managed to survive. The group re-formed in 1987 with Van Zant's brother Johnny filling in on lead vocals, and the revamped Lynyrd Skynyrd has been recording and touring successfully ever since.
WHAT TO EXPECT: If you look in the dictionary for the definition of a Southern rock 'n' roll band, you may just find a picture of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Despite losing key members of the band, the band has managed to persevere and continues to be one of the most successful touring bands around. If you're going to this show, expect a night of down-home, gritty rock 'n' roll music courtesy of America's Southern rock ambassadors. "Live shows are really what this band is about," says guitarist Gary Rossington in a press release. "We love to play live; there's nothing else like it. We don't know anything else to do. We got it down now; people are enjoying it so we're enjoying doing it for them." The current lineup features original band members Gary Rossington (guitar) and Billy Powell (keyboards) along with Johnny Van Zant on lead vocals.
WHAT'S NEW: Lynyrd Skynryd's latest release is the double album, "Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyve," which contains 19 live classics, including "Free Bird," "I Know a Little," "What's Your Name" and "Gimme Three Steps."
WEB SITE: www.lynyrdskynryd.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $65. The shows begin 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29 at Borgata's Event Center.
Pops Fernandez
& Dolphy at Trump
Taj Mahal
WHO ARE THEY: Pops Fernandez began her career at age 16 and has gone on to become one of the most famous and sought-after female entertainers in the Philippines. In 2000, she received the Star Award for Best Musical Variety Show. Fernandez is known as the "Concert Queen" for her ability to draw huge crowds at her concerts.
Dolphy is a comedian and actor from the Philippines who is known as the "King of Comedy." The 80-year old has sustained a career over the course of five decades and has starred in countless films and television shows over that time.
Zsa Zsa Padilla is a Filipino singer and actress who got her start as a member of the band Hotdog in the mid-1970s. Padilla is the wife of Dolphy.
Jay-R is a Filipino singer, actor and model who appears regularly on the variety show, "SOP."
Geneva Cruz is a singer and actress from the Philippines who is part of legendary show business family. Cruz's debut album, "I Like You," went platinum and she's been a star ever since.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Some of the Philippines' brightest stars will hit the stage of the Taj Arena Saturday night. The lineup is an impressive one. True to her moniker, "The Concert Queen," Fernandez always puts on a great performance, while the 80-year old Dolphy hasn't lost a beat over the years and can still lay claim to his title as the "King of Comedy."
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $48, $68, $88, $108, $128 and $148. The show begins 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Trump Taj Mahal Arena.
B.B. King at
House of Blues
WHO IS HE: B.B. King is a living legend and absolute master of the blues. His note-bending guitar style is instantly recognizable and has been inspiring guitarists in genres as diverse as rock, pop, country, jazz and R&B as well as the blues for close to 60 years. The Mississippi native had an incredible 74 songs hit the Billboard R&B charts between 1951 and 1985. In 1970 he even managed to score big on the pop charts with his hit single, "The Thrill is Gone." In the late 1980s, King was able to garner a new generation of fans after appearing with U2 in the film/album "Rattle and Hum," performing with Irish rockers on "When Love Comes to Town."
WHAT TO EXPECT: With his beloved guitar "Lucille" by his side, B.B. King has been belting out his unique brand of Mississippi Delta blues since the late 1940s. This iconic figure helped revolutionize the electric guitar as well as blues music as a whole and continues to serve as an unofficial ambassador for the genre. Despite the fact that King is now 83 years old, he hasn't lost his chops or passion for performing. Although his guitar playing is generally the most revered of his talents, King is also an exceptional singer who delivers lyrics with such gut-level emotion that grown men are often brought to the brink of tears. King's show will take place appropriately enough at the House of Blues, where an intimate crowd will get to witness exactly what has made this man a great among greats for nearly 60 years.
WHAT'S NEW: King's new album, "One Kind Favor," was released in August and was produced by T Bone Burnett. The album includes 12 tracks and has received stellar reviews.
WEB SITE: www.bbking.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $46, $70.50, $76, $78 and $103. The show begins 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the House of Blues.
Tom Jones at
Trump Marina
WHO IS HE: With the possible exceptions of Wayne Newton and Elvis Presley, no artist is more synonymous with the Las Vegas casino performance style than Tom Jones. The Welsh baritone was part of the original British invasion during the 1960s and hit the big time with the 1965 hit single "It's Not Unusual." Other hits, including "Once Upon a Time," "Little Lonely One," "With These Hands" and "What's New Pussycat?" were soon to follow. Over the years, Jones covered various styles of music including pop, rock, country, dance, techno and show tunes, yet his distinct singing style has always remained a constant. His 1988 cover of Prince's "Kiss" is a good example of Jones' experimentation with different genres.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Despite the fact that Jones is now in his late 60s, he still receives his fair share of women's lingerie at every show. The man has been considered a sex symbol since the mid-1960s and is notorious for working this angle into his live show, which is sure to feature an unbuttoned shirt, tight pants, gyrating hips and an abundance of hit singles. It's not unusual to see 50- and 60-year-old women screaming and carrying on like teenage school girls at a Tom Jones concert. The lingerie tossing is as much of ritual at a Jones show as tossing a bouquet of roses to a stage actor is at the end of a theater production. Fans can expect to hear all of their favorites as well as songs from Jones' new album "24 Hours."
WHAT'S NEW: Jones' new album, "24 Hours," was released Tuesday and contains 13 tracks, including a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The Hitter."
WEB SITE: www.tomjones.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $40 and $60. The shows begin 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Trump Marina's Grand Cayman.
'Cirque Dreams
Holidaze'
WHO ARE THEY: "Cirque Dreams Holidaze" was created by director Neil Goldberg, who expanded on the successful Cirque Dreams franchise by incorporating some holiday magic. During the past year alone, more than a million people have attended a Cirque Dreams show. New York Magazine described Cirque Dreams as, "The grandest circus spectacle east of Vegas."
WHAT TO EXPECT: Those who are tired of the same old traditional holiday shows should enjoy "Cirque Dreams Holidaze," where 40 ornaments come to life with aerial, acrobatic, musical and dance productions. The show features a 20-foot tree, gingerbread men performing flips, snowmen juggling and bouncing their buttons off each other, and reindeer flying high over the rooftops of a city made of gifts. "'Cirque Dreams Holidaze' remains true to my original Cirque Dreams vision, which began with the company in 1993," says Goldberg in a press release. "To blend European artistry with circus and Broadway theatrics in a dramatic fashion that transcends imagination, leaves its narration to the eyes of the beholder, and offers something for everyone." Cirque Dreams is a holiday show that the whole family can truly enjoy, not just the little ones.
WEB SITE: www.cirqueproductions.com SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25 and $35. The shows begin 7:30 Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 p.m. Fridays, 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and 8 p.m. Saturdays at Trump Plaza's Theater. The show runs Friday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 28.
The Original Wailers
at Resorts
WHO ARE THEY: The Wailers were originally a ska, rocksteady and reggae group comprised of Junior Braithwaite, Beverly Kelso, Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh that was formed in the early 1960s. With various lineup changes along the way, the group went on to become the backing group for Marley until the legendary singer's death in 1981. Some of the landmark recordings the Wailers made with Marley include the albums "Catch a Fire," "Burnin'," "Natty Dread," "Rastaman Vibration" and "Exodus." The Original Wailers feature keyboard player Earl "Wya" Lindo, guitarist Al Anderson and Junior Marvin.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The Original Wailers roll into town this weekend determined to prove that reggae music is a year-round addiction, not just a summer love affair. The lineup consists of Earl "Wya" Lindo, Al Anderson and Junior Marvin along with several other notable reggae musicians. The band is carrying the torch for their departed leader Bob Marley, performing the classic hits that made the group legendary. Fans can look forward to a night full of good vibes, great music and one love.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25, and the show begins 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Resorts' Superstar Theater.
Jay Leno at Caesars
WHO IS HE: Jay Leno worked his way into show business as a stand-up comedian, taking bit parts in movies and on television along the way. He also starred in numerous television commercials, including a series of spots for Doritos. In 1986, Leno hosted "Saturday Night Live." In 1989, he starred opposite Pat Morita in the film, "Collision Course." In 1992, Leno landed his dream job as host of "The Tonight Show," where he took over for Johnny Carson upon his retirement. He has been a successful fixture on the late-night talk show circuit for the past 17 years.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Before he became a famous talk-show host, Leno was one of the most well-respected and successful stand-up comedians in the business. On Saturday night at Caesars, Leno will be going back to his roots to perform in an environment where he is a true natural. A veteran of the Atlantic City stages, Leno always puts on a clean show that is suitable for a wide audience. His observations on everyday life, celebrities and his jovial, good-natured demeanor are part of what has made him a star on television and they are also what originally made him a star as a comic.
WHAT'S NEW: Lenos' future is uncertain as his "Tonight Show" hosting duties will come to an end in 2009. Many predict he will land a new talk show on a major network or possibly syndication.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $75, $100 and $125. The shows begin 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Caesars' Circus Maximus Theater.

The Who at Borgata
WHO ARE THEY: Who are they? Only one of the most influential, popular and successful rock bands in history, that's who. The four distinct personalities of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon helped create a chaotic stage show and brilliantly written rock 'n' roll masterpieces. As a key component of the British Invasion, The Who achieved fame with hits like "I Can't Explain," "Substitute" and "My Generation." An appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival helped secure their status as musical icons. In 1969, the band emerged with the concept album and rock opera "Tommy," which was a massive critical and commercial success. "Who's Next" followed in 1971. The album was a smash and featured the hits "Baba O'Riley," "Won't Get Fooled Again," "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Bargain." After creating another rock opera, "Quadrophenia," The Who released "Who Are You" in 1978. Unfortunately, the success of the album was marred by the tragic death of Moon that year due to a drug overdose. The band chose to carry on and have remained a successful live touring act ever since.
WHAT TO EXPECT: While some hardcore fans believe that The Who died along with Moon in 1978, and others believe they should have called it quits following the 2002 death of Entwistle, the band has shown an amazing resiliency in the face of hard times. The tragedies, triumphs and confusing times have only made the duo of Townsend and Daltrey stronger. They may not be blowing up drum kits or trashing the stage quite like they used to, but Daltrey and Townsend can still rock out with the best of them. Fans can expect to hear plenty of tracks from their latest CD, "Endless Wire," as well as classics such as "Baba O'Riley," "Behind Blue Eyes," "Won't Get Fooled Again," "My Generation" and "Who Are You."
WHAT'S NEW: The Who were recently honored at the 2008 VH1 Rock Honors.
WEB SITE: www.thewhotour.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $97, $275 and $325. The show begins 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Borgata's Event Center.
Celtic Thunder
at Trump Taj Mahal
WHO ARE THEY: Celtic Thunder is an Irish group comprised of five male vocalists: Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly and George Donaldson. They've released two albums - "Celtic Thunder" and "Act Two" - as well as a live DVD titled "Celtic Thunder: The Show." The group's performances, as well as interviews with the members, have been featured on PBS a great deal in the past several months. The vocalists of Celtic Thunder perform as soloists and as an ensemble.
WHAT TO EXPECT: With its five-man vocal ensemble backed by the Celtic Concert Orchestra, Celtic Thunder is one of the hottest new sensations in Irish music. Its live shows include dramatic lighting, an incredible stage set and choreography, as well as an eclectic mix of material, including "Raggle Taggle Gypsy," "The Mountains of Mourne," "Nights in White Satin," "Puppy Love," "Ireland's Call," "She," "I Want to Know What Love Is" and "Caledonia." Although Celtic Thunder has existed for a little more than a year, it has accomplished a great deal in that short amount of time and have been taking audiences by storm.
WHAT'S NEW: "Celtic Thunder: The Show" is scheduled to perform in more than 50 U.S. cities in 2008.
WEB SITE: www.celticthunder.ieSHOW INFO: Tickets are $37.50 and $57.50. The show begins 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Trump Taj Mahal Arena.
David Byrne at Borgata
WHO IS HE: David Byrne is best known as the lead singer and songwriter for the New Wave band the Talking Heads. Byrne formed the band in 1974 and went on to achieve critical acclaim and commercial success with hit singles like "Burning Down the House," "Psycho Killer" and "Once in a Lifetime." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. In addition to his work with the Talking Heads, Byrne has been releasing solo albums since 1981's "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts."
WHAT TO EXPECT: Although he is known best for his work with the Talking Heads, Byrne has maintained a successful, though somewhat low-key, solo career over the years. His latest album, "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today," teams the singer with longtime collaborator Brian Eno, and it proves to once again be a formula for success. The current tour is being billed as "Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno," which is exactly what fans will get. In addition to tracks from "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today," concertgoers will also be treated to tracks from the duo's 1981 collaboration, "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts."
WHAT'S NEW: In August, "Big Love: Hymnal" was also released. The album features music that was written for the HBO series along with several other new songs.
WEB SITE: www.davidbyrne.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $75, and the show begins 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Borgata's Music Box.
Luis Miguel at Borgata
WHO IS HE: Luis Miguel is a Mexican pop singer who is known as "El Sol de Mexico." Miguel won four Latin Grammy Awards and five Grammy Awards over the course of his career. He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1996. Miguel signed with Warner Records in 1987, and in 1988 he released the album, "Un Hombre Busca Una Mujer," which contained the smash hit "La Incondicional." Miguel's 1993 album, "Aires," won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, while 1994's "Segundo Romance" not only won the singer a Grammy, but reached platinum sales status in the United States. 1994 also saw Miguel featured singing with Frank Sinatra on "Duets II."
WHAT TO EXPECT: The man known as "El Sol de Mexico" always brings an arsenal of hits and a fantastic stage show. Miguel has won Grammy Awards and even has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but it is with his live performances that he shines. Fans can expect nothing but the best at Saturday night's show, with Miguel displaying his smooth, crooning vocal style and magnificent showmanship.
WHAT'S NEW: Miguel's new album, "Complices," was released in May. His tour kicked off in Seattle in September.
WEB SITE: www.luismigueloficial.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $75, $85 and $125. The show begins 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Borgata's Event Center.
Chris Titus
at Trump Plaza
WHO IS HE: Chris Titus is a stand-up comedian who grew up in a highly dysfunctional family and uses this background in his act. Titus has made television appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Premium Blend," "Twilight Zone," "Yes, Dear," "Jenny" and "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman." In 2000, he starred in his own sitcom, "Titus," which was partially based on his one-man show, "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding." The show ran until 2002 and was praised by critics.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Titus has managed to battle the demons of a childhood that included dealing with family members' alcoholism, suicide and mental illness and channel it into his career in comedy. While his frank, forthright routines appear to provide Titus with a form of on-stage therapy, they also succeed in being wildly entertaining for audiences. Titus' dysfunctional family, divorce and his take on current events will be among the topics discussed.
WHAT'S NEW: Titus' current act, "Love is Evol," will be recorded this month for an appearance on Comedy Central.

Hanson with Dave Barnes and Everybody Else at House of Blues
WHO ARE THEY: While the movement in rock music during the 1990s leaned heavily towards the dark and distorted world of grunge and alternative music, it was disrupted to a certain degree in 1997 when the teenage trio Hanson burst onto the scene with their album "Middle of Nowhere." The young group of brothers had a smash hit right out of the gate with "MMMBop," an infectious, catchy pop song that harked back to the sound of The Jackson 5. The Hanson brothers became teen idols and helped to pave the way for other teen acts such as Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera and
N'SYNC.
Dave Barnes is a singer/songwriter who grew up in Mississippi and realized his calling as a musician while attending Middle Tennessee State University. Barnes moved to Nashville, where he began performing as a solo acoustic act, but before long he had put together a band and released the independent album "Brother, Bring the Sun" in 2004. Another independent release, "Chasing Mississippi," followed in 2006 before Barnes signed with Razor & Tie and released "Me and You and the World" in April of 2008.
The rock band Everybody Else formed in 2003 and released its self-titled debut album in April of 2007. Less than a month later they embarked on their first tour.
WHAT TO EXPECT: They may not be as young and cute as they were a decade ago, but Hanson continues to play their brand of catchy pop-rock tunes. Fans of the Hanson brothers will no doubt turn out in droves Thursday night to cheer on the former pinup boys who will be performing songs from throughout their career. The band continued to release albums throughout the decade and became revered as a live act despite several personnel changes.
Jakob Dylan became famous in the mid-1990s as the lead singer of The Wallflowers. The group's sophomore release, "Bringing Down the Horse," was a huge success and featured the hit singles "One Headlight," "6th Avenue Heartache" and "The Difference." Dylan's solo debut, "Seeing Things," was released in June.
WHAT TO EXPECT: While they initially became famous for their catchy classic rock singles in the early 1990s, The Black Crowes wound up taking a more soulful rock 'n' roll direction. You're just as likely to hear obscure tracks like "She Gave Good Sunflower," "Girl From a Pawnshop" or "Downtown Money Waster" as you are to hear hits like "Hard to Handle," "Remedy" or "She Talks to Angels." Fans can also look forward to hearing tracks from the Crowes' new album, "Warpaint," as well as some down-and-dirty jams that they've become so famous for. Despite some recent lineup changes, The Brothers Robinson still steer the ship, and the band's performances are as powerful as ever. Few bands can deliver the level of heart, soul and passion that the Black Crowes do on a nightly basis.
Wallflowers' frontman Dylan will open the show, performing songs from his new album.
WHAT'S NEW: "Warpaint" was released in March and received some of the best critical reviews of the band's career. It also debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Charts, which was the highest debut for the band since "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" topped the charts in 1992.
Dylan's "Seeing Things" was released in June and contains 10, mostly acoustic tracks.

'The Rat Pack is Back' at Trump Plaza
WHATITIS: "The Rat Pack is Back" pays tribute to legendary entertainers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Sammy Davis, Jr. The show features a talented cast and a 15-piece orchestra that aims to take audiences on a trip back in time to the glitzy Las Vegas nights of old. The premise of the show is that the Rat Pack has returned for one night only to wow the fans.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The original Rat Pack had a style, swagger and personality that was all its own. While the individual members were immensely talented on their own, it was as a group that they earned the legendary status that lives on to this day. "The Rat Pack is Back" draws on that legend and features a cast of talented entertainers who strive to capture the spirit of these magnificent performers. Fans can expect to hear classics such as "That's Amore," "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Luck Be a Lady." For those looking to relive the golden days of Las Vegas, this show has it all and is a sure bet.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25. The shows begin 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Trump Plaza's Theater.
Jackie Martling
at Trump Marina
WHO IS HE: Jackie Martling began his career in the late 1970s as a member of an original music and comedy trio called The Off Hour Rockers, but it wasn't long before he was on his own performing as a stand-up comedian. The Long Island, N.Y., native began to make guest appearances on "The Howard Stern Show" and was eventually hired as a cast member and writer in 1986. Known as "Jackie the Joke Man," Martling became an instant hit on the show with his infectious laugh and arsenal of jokes. The comic left the show in 2001 over a salary dispute, but later returned to Sirius Radio hosting "Jackie's Joke Hunt" on Stern's Howard 101 station. Throughout the course of his career, Martling has released several comic CDs, books and videos.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Martling may have gained the most notoriety during his 15-year run on "The Howard Stern Show," but on stage as a stand-up comedian is where the comic does some of his best work. A virtual walking encyclopedia of jokes, Martling goes full-tilt at every performance, launching head-on into an assault of dirty jokes without coming up for air. His classic finale has long been "Stump the Joke Man," where Martling attempts to provide the punchlines to jokes presented by audience members.
WEB SITE: www.jokeland.comSHOW INFO: Tickets are $28, and the show begins 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Trump Marina's The Shell.
Jerry Seinfeld
at Caesars
WHO IS HE: Before he became a household name in the 1990s, Jerry Seinfeld was a hard-working stand-up comedian from Long Island, N.Y., whose down-to-earth, observational humor was instantly relatable. Seinfeld made his first appearance on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" in 1981, and from there his career really started to take off. He became a frequent guest on the show along with other late-night talk shows such as "Late Night with David Letterman" and "The Merv Griffin Show." Seinfeld created the hilarious hit television show that bore his name along with fellow comic Larry David in 1989. Initial ratings for the show were not good, but by its fourth season, "Seinfeld" was the most popular and successful show on television. It received numerous Emmy awards and left the air while still on top in 1998. The show still airs heavily in syndication.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Seinfeld's ability to take simple, everyday anomalies of life and turn them into side-splitting comedy routines has made him a star. After experiencing such massive success with his hit television show, many expected Seinfeld to try to duplicate it. But instead he retreated back into the world of stand-up comedy, which was his first love. Seinfeld is an absolute master on stage and still puts the same sort of enthusiasm into every performance, despite the fact that he is now a legend and has nothing left to prove.
WHAT'S NEW: Seinfeld recently appeared in a string of Microsoft commercials along with Bill Gates.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $100, $125, $135 and $150. The shows begin 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Caesars' Circus Maximus Theater.
Louis C.K. at Borgata
WHO IS HE: Louis C.K. is a multitalented individual who has had success as a stand up-comedian, a writer, actor, producer and director. C.K. has written for "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Dana Carvey Show" and "The Chris Rock Show." He has co-written the 2007 Chris Rock film "I Think I Love My Wife." As a stand-up comedian, he has made appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Louis C.K. starred in his own HBO sitcom "Lucky Louie" in 2006.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Louis C.K. is one of those entertainers who seems to do everything well. From writing to acting to stand-up comedy, C.K. has done it all and continues to gain notoriety along the way. Fans at the Borgata are in for a treat on Saturday night as Louis C.K. takes his act to the stage. Recent stand-up routines have featured material relating to the frustrations associated with raising his young daughter.
WHAT'S NEW: Louis C.K.'s new stand-up special, "Chewed Up," premiered on the Showtime network last week.
WEB SITE: www.louisck.netSHOW INFO: Tickets are $40, and the show begins 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Borgata's Music Box.
Seth Meyers
at Stockton College
WHO IS HE: Meyers began his comedic career at Northwestern University as a member of the improv sketch group "Mee-Ow." He continued to work in improv as a castmember of "Boom, Chicago," which was based in Amsterdam. In 2001, Meyers joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live," where he worked primarily as a writer. He became the head writer in 2006, while also co-anchoring the "Weekend Update" segment with Amy Poehler. In July, Meyers appeared in the film "Journey to the Center of the Earth" along with Brendan Fraser.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Meyers has made a name for himself through his work on "Saturday Night Live," which is just about the best proving ground there is for a young comic. His career began with improv, progressed to writing and went on to include acting as well. In addition to his improvisational skills, Meyers is also adept at impressions, and will no doubt be bringing some of them to the stage of Stockton's Performing Arts Center on Saturday night.
WHAT'S NEW: Meyers is working on a film called "Key Party," which is based on a "Saturday Night Live" skit.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $5 for Stockton alumni and students and $7 for the public. The show begins 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Richard Stockton College's Performing Arts Center.
'Yesterday -
A Tribute to the
Beatles' at Tropicana
WHO ARE THEY: Yesterday is a Las Vegas-based Beatles tribute.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Those looking to take a trip back to the days when four young lads from England ruled the world will want to head to the Tropicana. "Yesterday - A Tribute to the Beatles" is in town reliving the magic of the world's most famous band. Yesterday will be performing "The British are Coming," a live re-enactment of the famous concerts that introduced the first wave of British invasion to the United States. The show includes re-enactments of the Beatles' performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," plus legendary concerts.
CRITIC'S CORNER: Press of Atlantic City critic Scott Cronick wrote: "While there are some more elaborate and even better Beatles tribute bands out there, Yesterday's enthusiasm and love for the music shines, and the guys sound as good as most Beatles tributes you will hear. 'The British Are Coming!' is a satisfying, fun and inexpensive night out that shouldn't be missed."
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25. The show begins 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays to Sundays at the Liverpool Club, North Tower, Tropicana.
Frank Sinatra Jr.
at Atlantic City Hilton
WHO IS HE: The son of Ol' Blue Eyes got his professional start at the age of 21, performing with the Elliot Brothers Band, and was soon singing with The Tommy Dorsey Band. In 1963, Frank Sinatra Jr. was kidnapped at Harrah's Lake Tahoe and held for $240,000 ransom, which his father paid. From the mid-1960s through the mid-1980s, Sinatra Jr. appeared regularly in Las Vegas as an opening act in the showrooms and as a headliner in the lounges. In 1984, Sinatra Jr. made his Atlantic City debut at Caesars, headlining with George Burns. In the late 1980s, Sinatra Jr. became the musical director for his father's shows.
WHAT TO EXPECT: While many children of famous musicians have struggled with stepping out of the shadows and establishing their own identity, Sinatra Jr. managed to establish an entire career by riding his father's coattails. While working as his father's musical director, Sinatra Jr. studied his father's vocal delivery, timing, mannerisms and stage presence to the point where he became, essentially, the ultimate tribute act. This performance is being billed as "Sinatra Sings Sinatra," so there is to be no mistaking what concertgoers are going to hear. To his credit, Sinatra Jr. does a pretty good impression of his father, and sings many of the old favorites that Sinatra fans will definitely enjoy. Since "The Chairman of the Board" is no longer with us, seeing his offspring perform his hits is just about the next best thing.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $50, and the show begins 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Atlantic City Hilton Theater.
Chef Anthony Bourdain
at Caesars
WHO IS HE: Anthony Bourdain is a renowned chef and author who grew up in Leonia and currently hosts "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" on the Travel Channel. Bourdain graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and is an honorary Chef-at-Large at Brasserie Les Halles. In 2000, Bourdain wrote the best-selling book, "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly," which depicted the darker side of the culinary arts. He is also the author of "A Cook's Tour" and "The Nasty Bits." Bourdain has made several guest appearances on television shows such as "Top Chef" and "Bizarre Foods."
WHAT TO EXPECT: The Caesars 2008 "Celebrity Chef Series" gives fans the opportunity to hear recipes, stories and secrets and engage in a question-and-answer session with their favorite chefs. This latest installment features Bourdain, an entertaining, tell-it-as-it-is chef, author and television host who is known for having devoured some of the most exotic and disgusting things on the planet. Those opting for the more expensive VIP Interactive Experience will be treated to a three-course meal prepared by Bourdain and will also receive an autographed copy of one of Bourdain's books.
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25, and the show begins 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Caesars' Circus Maximus Theater.
