For those of you following Harrah's Entertainment's Rock Band Competition, which has been happening at the Eden Lounge inside Harrah's Resort, as well as at Showboat Casino-Hotel and Bally's Atlantic City, the night of reckoning has come!

The Total Rock Weekend begins Thursday, May 7, and MTV's Sway Calloway is gearing up to host the entire weekend. Sway has been known as one of MTV's best music and news correspondents for more than 10 years. He can't wait to see what the Atlantic City area has to offer - and he's guessing you can't wait, either.

The Atlantic City Regional Finals will feature five bands from Harrah's, Showboat, Bally's, Harrah's Chester in Pennsylvania and Harrah's Tahoe in Nevada, the latter because it started its competition late. The kickoff party begins at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Eden Lounge and features raffles, drink specials and giveaways. A DJ will spin music between performances all night.

The winner from that event will advance to the Friday, May 8, National Competition, joining bands from the West, the South and the Midwest. The Final Four go head-to-head in the ultimate championship battle here in Atlantic City. Whoever wins Friday's main event at Club Worship inside the Showboat beginning at 7 p.m. will be opening for The B-52s at the House of Blues on Saturday, May 9, and will also take home $10,000 in cash. Also going on at Harrah's Resort this weekend is Brooke Hogan's 21st Birthday Pool Party at The Pool, of course. Hogan will not only be hosting the event but is also expected to perform. Local high-schoolers are turning their musical and sociological interests into one of the biggest fundraising gigs Egg Harbor Township High School has ever seen: the Second Annual Tunes Against Turmoil concert. This outdoor musical event was created to raise awareness about the genocide happening in Darfur, as well as to help fund Doctors Without Borders, an organization that sends top-notch docs to third-world countries to help suffering children and adults.

Tunes Against Turmoil is a Battle of The Bands-style show, but there's no rough and tumble competition here - it's all in good fun and all for a good cause. Bands slated to perform include Total Failure, Secret Skills, Shallow Bay, Class 6, Pedestrians, Marc Ribler, Ocean The Legend, My Name Is August and Whiskey Train. The show is expected to last seven hours. Dr. Jerry Ehrlich, a member of Doctors Without Borders, will appear.
