'Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Part II' in Margate
What Is It: "Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Part II" is a chance for families to watch live performances of classic Disney songs by Broadway performers. The show involves Disney music set to a story - about a wicked witch who turns good and falls in love with a magician who has trouble performing his tricks. The two-hour show will give Disney fans of all ages the chance to hear some of their favorite songs, re-enacted by talented performers like Kevin Reed and magician Joe Holliday. It benefits the MAPS Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps local residents afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
What To Expect: The show includes Disney staples like "Circle of Life," "Whole New World" and "When You Wish Upon a Star," among many others. There's not a bad seat in the entire room (pictured above), but there's no reserve seating, so make sure to get there early.
Event Info: The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Dr. Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center, 7804 Amherst Ave. in Margate. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and members, $15 for one child, and $10 for each additional child. For more information, call 609-822-9093.
Shorecast
Hey, not to be a buzz-kill or anything, but today is the last weekend day in July. Translation: Summers don't last forever, so if you have any shot at it at all, get to the beach and stay as long as you can. The ocean should cooperate with that mission - high tide should be a bit before noon (in Atlantic City). That means the tide will fall all afternoon, and that means there should be plenty of room for everybody, even if you have lots of fellow travelers on that beach-bound mission. There should be a little more cooperation from an early forecast calling for a high in the mid-80s and a sweet sea breeze, along (alas) with a chance of "isolated thunderstorms."
