ATLANTIC CITY - The hottest nightspot in this resort city is about to get hotter. The Pool at Harrah's Resort will unveil an expansion on New Year's Eve when it opens The Loft on the second floor.

"The demand for The Pool experience has grown tremendously to the point where we need to expand," says Harrah's Vice President of Marketing Danielle Mohn. "It will be a unique daytime and nighttime experience. We are basically building out and creating an entirely new experience on the second floor of The Pool."

Construction is underway on two new bars at The Loft, which will also encompass the massive outdoor patio area on the second floor. The bars will mirror each other in design. The inside of The Loft will overlook The Pool. Both versions will offer bottle service and an experience that will differ, yet complement, The Pool experience, according to Mohn.

The Loft will take better advantage of the spacious second floor at The Pool, which is currently used for private parties and overflow from the first floor.

"It will definitely resemble some clubs and restaurants that you see out West, where the whole restaurant is like a bar … there's a seamless transition," Mohn says. "But it's more than just the bar. It's a whole transformation of the second deck to create The Loft. It's an entire new experience."

Harrah's is still defining The Loft experience, but details will be released before its New Year's Eve party.

"People will get a taste of it beginning New Year's Eve, but we'll really blow it out in the spring and summer," Mohn says. "It's not a separate club, but The Loft will differ in the sense that we will offer things there that you can't get in the downstairs area of The Pool. The overall experience will still have a club vibe, but it will be a unique and different nightlife and daytime experience that no one else can offer."

The Pool was part of the $550 million Waterfront expansion that opened in 2006. Since its debut, The Pool has become one of the most successful clubs in the country, drawing as many as 3,000 people on Saturday nights while still serving as a daytime indoor oasis for its hotel guests featuring 40-foot palm trees, tropical plants, hot tubs, cabanas and a bar.

The Pool is also known for hiring reality television stars to host its weekend bashes, including Brooke Hogan, Dennis Rodman, Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian, Lauren Conrad and Audrina Partridge of "The Hills" and Adrian Grenier of HBO's "Entourage," who will return on Jan. 2, with his band The Honey Brothers.

THIS is the kind of attraction that the casinos should be focusing on. Make it a party town, and less a casino town.
