6th Annual Bloomsday Celebration

What Is It: Bloomsday is a worldwide event celebrating James Joyce's "Ulysses" and the life of the author. A 12-hour staged reading of the novel will be held at various locations throughout Ocean City.

What To Expect: The Ocean City Repertory Theater will bring the classic work to life in locations that reflect those in the novel, complete with music and an afternoon tea. Joyce fans will be enthralled in the traveling reading of the novel, based on Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," which follows a day in the life of salesman Leopold Bloom as he travels through Dublin.

Event Info: The reading begins with a tea from noon to 1 p.m. at the Scarborough Inn, located at 720 Ocean Ave. Reservations for the tea are required and the cost is $3 per person. From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., the reading continues at Fine Arts League, located at 608 Asbury Ave. From 3 to 4 p.m., the reading moves to City Hall at 900 Asbury Ave. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., it continues at Godfrey Funeral Home at 809 Central Ave. From 6 to 7 p.m., the reading continues at SunRose Words and Music, located at 756 Asbury Ave. The final section of the reading begins at 7:30 p.m. and culminates at midnight at the Ocean City Repertory Theater at 813 Asbury Ave. For reservations and more information, contact the Ocean City Repertory Theater at 609-231-3263.
