Savor Borgata in Atlantic City

What Is It: Want to try a bunch of the fanciest restaurants in our area tonight, one bite at a time? If that's the case, make tracks to Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa for an evening of feasts - and face time - with the hotel's lineup of celebrity chefs. For one price, you can munch on everything from fresh-grilled items to sushi, and ask the chefs themselves how they pull it off.

What To Expect: Among the culinary masterminds taking part in tonight's festivities are Wolfgang Puck (of his eponymously-named Wolfgang Puck American Grille), who'll be serving grilled shrimp and scallops with green onions and ginger, over noodles. Then there's Michael Schulson, of sushi sensation Izakaya. Stephen Kalt brings a taste of the new Italian hub Fornelletto, and Bobby Flay shows the treats of Bobby Flay Steak. Michael Mina of Seablue, Romeo DiBona of Old Homestead Steak House and executive chefs from the Borgata and Water Club round out the group.

Event Info: The fun starts at 7 p.m. at Borgata's Water Club, 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City. Tickets cost $125. Call 866-900-4849 for information.

Brian Wilson at House of Blues

Who Is He: To a generation of musicians, Brian Wilson represents something different from rock stardom: An example of the mercurial singer-songwriter who managed to cling to his craft through the volatile music-industry. As the leading influence of the Beach Boys, Wilson took a plunge into the deceptively simple harmonies that defined the California sound. Out of thin air, a 23-year-old Wilson produced the gems of "Pet Sounds" and the album "Good Vibrations," which observer Derek Taylor called a "pocket symphony."

What To Expect: If you agree with any of the hype about Wilson's genius, then to see him live is a moment to savor. Since the release of 2004's "SMiLE," which completed his once-abandoned set of songs from the 60s, Wilson has hit the road. He may still be a shy sort, but to see Wilson take the stage proves even a genius can be a real flesh-and-blood guy too.

Event Info: The show starts at 8 tonight at House of Blues Atlantic City at Showboat Casino-Hotel. Tickets costs $35 to $65. Call 609-236-2583 for more information.

Trail of Two Cities in Ocean City

What Is It: Run a whole marathon for love? Maybe not. But once a year, Ocean City's finest put on their running-shoes and show their love for their town by trekking their way over the Ninth Street bridge. The run amounts to a 5-kilometer stretch, all the way over the Route 52 causeway from the town transportation center to Kennedy Square in Somers Point. The early start means runners can enjoy the first frosty hours of the day - and get back home for breakfast.

What To Expect: Get there early, and you can register on the day at 7 a.m. Money raised from the $25 entry fee goes to a good cause, which should feel as good as the free return-journey bus ride. And sure, the competitive front-runners can vie for medals in age categories. But for the rest of us, it's bragging rights just to say we were up at that hour on a Saturday.

Event Info: The run starts at 8 a.m. at the Ocean City Transportation Center at 10th Street and Haven Avenue. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and costs $25. For more information, call 609-525-9300.

Candlelight walk at Historic Cold Spring Village

What Is It: Historic attractions aren't just for summer months. Far from it. It's much more fun to feel the atmosphere of our area's oldest sites as the wind gets chillier and the leaves turn. Why? Because in previous centuries the season of winter challenged folks, who had to find ways to survive. This afternoon in Cold Spring Village, get a taste of what its inhabitants from the late 1600s onward did to stay warm.

What To Expect: In the late afternoon, curious members of the public will gather at Historic Cold Spring Village, where they will follow a candlelit trail through the historic buildings, including the Spicer Leaming farmhouse and the Coxe Hall Cottage. Along the way, with old-fashioned treats such as pulled pork and fresh-baked bread, as well as wine and beer supplied for refreshment, visitors hear from the Village's education director Jim Stephens, demonstrating historic crafts. The entry fee will benefit the Village's education fund, helping provide workshops for school children about this slice of local history.

Event Info: The walk runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today. Tickets available in advance only, cost $20. Historic Cold Spring Village is located at 720 Rt. 9 South in Cape May. For more information, call 609-898-2300 or visit www.hcsv.org
