For warm flavors at this time of year, you can't beat the food and drink of South America.
Chef Lucas Mantega certainly thinks so. From his base at the Ebbitt Room, in Cape May's Virginia Hotel, Mantega has launched what the restaurant calls its Inaugural Wine Dinner.
For this first ever event of its kind here, Mantega has paired six full courses of Argentinean fine cuisine with wines from the same region.
Try house-cured Chilean salmon with blood-orange vinaigrette - alongside a glass of Torrontes. Or crispy veal sweetbreads with Pinot Noir.
The wines are all handpicked by the Ebbitt Room team. And hey, to get your tastebuds rolling, the welcoming reception features cocktails - caipirinhas, of course.
The wine dinner starts with a reception at 6:30 p.m., November 17. The event costs $110 per person. Reservations needed. The Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel, 25 Jackson St., Cape May. Call 609-884-5700 for information and reservations.
