What Is It: Fireworks are one of the most important and memorable parts of any Fourth of July celebration. Luckily, there are a number of opportunities to see a great fireworks shows in the area.

Holiday concerts
What Is It: Fireworks aren't the only way to celebrate America's freedom today. Enjoy one of the many concerts scheduled to show your American pride.
What To Expect: There are six concerts today devoted to expressing patrioticism through music. Performances include acts by local bands as well as a Jimmy Buffet tribute band which will take place in different venues in Atlantic City, Cape May, Ocean City, Somers Point, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest.
Event Info: A 4th of July concert of local bands takes place in Atlantic City from noon to 7 p.m. at Kennedy Plaza, opposite Boardwalk Hall today. Admission is free and acts include the Cason Express, Jim Craine's Band, Ray Smith's Calypso Band and Angela Burton & Passion.
The Congress Street Brass Band plays a free concert in Cape May at 6 p.m. in the Rotary Park Bandstand on Lafayette Street.
Tenor Steve Amerson performs with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra in Ocean City at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Tickets are $12 and $20. Call 609-525-9291.
A classic rock/patriotic salute will be performed by The Bob Campanell Band in Somers Point from 7 to 9 p.m. at the William Morrow municipal beach at New Jersey and Bay avenues. Call 609-927-2053.
The Jimmy Buffet tribute band, "Changes in Latitude," will perform at 6 p.m. in Wildwood at Fox Park located at Ocean and Burke avenues across from the Convention Center. Call 609-729-9000.
The bands Hideaway and Mango Men will perform in Wildwood Crest at Fern Road Fitness Park, located at 6700 Ocean Ave. at Fern Road. Hideaway plays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Mango Men follow from 8 to 9:30 p.m. This show is also free. Call 609-523-0202.
Bad Company in Atlantic City
Who Are They: Bad Company returned this summer for a 10-show tour to wrap up a career that has lasted more than 35 years. Although lead singer Paul Rodgers left the band in 1982, he rejoined with his original band mates guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke for the tour.
What To Expect: Rodgers has led a number of bands during his career, most recently as the leader singer for Queen, but fans can expect to hear only Bad Company songs tonight. Their biggest hits include "Can't Get Enough," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock & Roll Fantasy."
Event Info: The final performance of their 10-show tour begins at 8 p.m. in the Superstar Theater at Resorts Casino-Hotel in Atlantic City. Tickets are $85, $125 and $185 and are available at the Resorts box office or from Ticketmaster at 800-736-1420 or www.ticketmaster.com
Joe Cocker at Atlantic City Hilton
Who Is He: Joe Cocker first made a name for himself in 1968 when he covered the Beatles' song "With a Little Help From My Friends." His performance of the same song a year later at Woodstock boosted his career and in 1970 he had his first U.S Top 10 hit, "The Letter." His duet with Jennifer Warnes on "You Are So Beautiful" in 1975 brought him even more popularity and became the theme song for the film "An Officer and a Gentleman."
What To Expect: Times have changed since his performance at Woodstock, but Cocker's soulful voice has not faded. He can still perform his hits even 40 years after their rise to the top.
