Children's opera in Ocean City

What Is It: The Peanut Butter Players are performing an operatic version of "Little Red Riding Hood" today in Ocean City. The Peanut Butter Players are children age 6 to 13 who are being trained in classical singing under the direction of soprano Nancy Fox. Also joining the children will be Kenneth Young in the role of the Wolf. Young recently retired from the Metropolitan Opera Chorus after 20 years as a member.

What To Expect: Don't let the term "opera" scare away the kids, "Little Red Riding Hood" will be enjoyed by children of all ages. Young audience members even get a chance to join the cast on stage by playing birds and trees after a short training session to learn their cues. As if that were not enough to get kids interested in opera, the Peanut Butter Players will also serve peanut butter sandwiches to audience members who are not allergic.

Event Info: The show begins at noon today at the St. Peter's Methodist Church, located at 501 East Eighth Street in Ocean City. Admission is free, but donations to the church are welcome.
