'Rocky Horror Picture Show' in Hammonton
What Is It: Look for sex, sin and songs in this midnight showing of the 1975 musical spoof of horror movies. The film stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as a straight-laced couple whose live are turned upside down when their car breaks down and they see some lights coming from Dr. Frank-N-Furter's (Tim Curry) place.
What To Expect: The screening's $15 admission fee includes a bag of props, so expect lots of encouragement to take part in the audience participation that has become a requisite of "Rocky Horror" screenings. Although the film bombed when first released, it soon became a cult hit and a staple of midnight screenings around the world, with audience members doing everything from squirting water guns at one another to getting up to dance "The Time Warp."
Event Info: Catch the festivities at The Eagle Theater, located at 208 Vine St. in Hammonton. The show starts at 11:59 p.m., and admission is $15. Call 609-704-5012.
The Roots with Jimmy Fallon
Who Are They: The Philadelphia-based Roots continue their series of residency shows at Borgata tonight with some help from their boss, TV host and comedian Jimmy Fallon. The Roots are Fallon's house band, so be prepared for at least a little interplay between the comedian and musicians on the stage.
What To Expect: Expect a night of jazz-tinged hip-hop as The Roots take the stage at the Music Box. If fans get lucky, the band might play some new tracks from "How I Got Over," a disc originally slated for release last month that is now expected to hit store shelves sometime next year. Fallon, a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member and host of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," will undoubtedly provide some laughs.
Event Info: The show starts 10 tonight at the Music Box at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. Tickets are $49.50 and can be purchased through ComcastTix by calling 800-298-4200 or visiting TheBorgata.com
