Surfing event in A.C.

If you're looking to enjoy today's warmer weather with a mid-winter visit to the beach, there will be plenty to see today off North Carolina Avenue in Atlantic City. That's the site of today's "Freeze for a Cause," cold weather amateur surfing contest to benefit the The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation.

Divisions in the surfing contest include: junior men's, 18 and younger; men's, 19 and older; grand master's, 36 and older; and women's open and long board open divisions. A quick cheek swab can determine if you are a bone marrow match for Anthony Daniels, 22, of Ridgewood, Bergen County, who has been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. A swab station will be set up noon to 5 p.m. in front of Margaritaville and Jersey Devil Surf on the Boardwalk. Following the event, there is an after party hosted by the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation with a dinner buffet, door prizes, raffles and a cash bar starting at 5 p.m. at Margaritaville in Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
