Music lecture in Ocean County

During the free music lecture by Paul M. Somers, below, attendees will learn about and listen to standard musical forms today at the Ocean County Library's Little Egg Harbor branch.

Participants will learn the proper structure of and how to identify a symphony, a sonata, a rondo, a minuet and a scherzo. Somers will explain the meanings behind these forms and how to hear them. Somers, an adult education director for the Bay-Atlantic Symphony and co-founder of Maurice River Music, is also a composer and a performer. For 25 years he was the harpsichordist for the Virtuoso Strings of New York.
