Mercato Market opens in Mays Landing
The live horse racing may be finished for another year at Atlantic City Race Course, but Mercato Market is just opening today. The owners call their new business on the track's sprawling parking lot "an outdoor market that's also an entertainment destination." And they start off their entertainment calendar this weekend with a couple of celebrity chefs, Eddie Berner, right, a rock star (from A Flock of Seagulls) who's now fronting and filming a reality-TV show, called "Rockin' Road Grill." And then there's the Food Network's "extreme chef," Terry French - plus acres of vendors, and food trucks, a beer garden and more attractions.
If You Go: Mercato Market's hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends at Atlantic City Race Course, 4501 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing. Free. For more details, call 609-377-8484. or see MercatoMarket.com
