At The Shore Today: Poetry contest finishes up in Cape May


Poetry contest in Cape May

Winners from the winter slam series will compete for the grand prize during the the sixth Shore Grand Slam event tonight at Cape May Stage's Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May.

The poetry participants are David Check, Ed Reeves and Peter Belasio. The storytellers are Chase Jackson, Chris South, Steven Church, Kat Cronin and Kate Leo. The bull slam, where a person has to guess whether the story being told is true or fiction, features John Alvarez and Jill Lance-Villas. The theme for all the works will be "Once Upon A Time." A grand prize is a gift basket that includes sparkling apple cider, pens, pencils, a journal book and other surprise gifts. There also will be surprise guest poets and storytellers.
