Decoy-carving legend highlights

Bayshore Center celebration

What Is It: The Bayshore Center at Bivalve, the home of New Jersey's official tall ship the A.J. Meerwald, has a tradition of hosting a celebration on the second Friday of each month. For tonight's Second Friday party, the featured attraction is Harry Shourds II, above, a third-generation decoy maker whose creations are considered works of art.

What To Expect: But there's always more to Second Friday than one draw. Tonight's music comes from the The Bud Cavallo Duo, there's a showing of "Crash: A Tale of Two Species," the acclaimed PBS documentary filmed on the Delaware Bayshore, plus art exhibits, more crafts, and plenty of local food and drink at the center's downhome Oyster Cracker Cafe.

Event Info: The free event runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve, 2800 High St., Port Norris. The tall ship, the Meerwald, is back in Bivalve and has a 90-minute river sail set starting at 4 p.m. For more details, call 856-785-2060 or see

A 'Sinatra' salute to moms in Cape May

Who Is He: Brandon Tomasello plays a young Frank Sinatra - a very, very young Sinatra. Tomasello is barely old enought to drink in a saloon, but he has been a popular saloon singer for a few years now doing his Sinatra songbook at several venues in Atlantic City. He moves his act south tonight to a very young venue, the new Cape May Convention Hall.

What To Expect: Tomasello will do his tribute to Sinatra, and to Mother's Day. Go in looking for the skinny kid who would grow up and fill out to be the Chairman of the Board and you may recognize him; you also may enjoy a rare concert in this beachfront building.

Event Info: Showtime is 8 p.m. and doors open 7:30 p.m. at Cape May Convention Hall,

714 Beach Drive. Tickets are free and seating is first-come, first-served. For more details, call 609-884-9565 or see

'Taste of Revel,' solid and liquid

What Is It: It's called a "Taste of Revel," but this event is actually a whole lot of tastes. It's three days of food, drinks, music and more.

What To Expect: The events start in a big way tonight with a Meet the Chefs Kickoff Bash, hosted by Katie Lee, the cookbook author and former host of Bravo's "Top Chef." The opening party features some of Revel's lineup of "Iron Chefs," including Jose Garces and Luke Palladino, plus plenty of food and drinks. Other events through Sunday include everything from Belgian beer tastings to Mother's Day brunches, and the list goes on and on.

Event Info: The Kickoff Bash runs 7 to 9 p.m. today and costs $95 per person, or $150 for VIP package. Other events continue at various times, with various prices, from tonight through Sunday brunch. For a full schedule and prices, see

Classic car show in Wildwood

What Is It: If you love a sweet set of wheels, Wildwood is your spot this weekend. The annual Spring Boardwalk Classic Car Show promises to draw beautiful, old-school cars all over the island, but especially to the Boardwalk.

What To Expect: It's always hard to say what will be the hit vehicles at a car show, but this is a promise: If you're into old cars, you can get your fill of them today and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., all along the boards in the Wildwoods. You'll also get a chance to chat the owners up about everything they did to bring the classic out of their cars - or to get the classic back into their old machines.

Event Info: The event is free. Daytime car showings today and Saturday, awards ceremony 9 a.m. Sunday at Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk. For more details, call 609-522-4546 or see
