'Beachstock' in Margate
What Is It: "Beachstock," as its founders from the Margate Business Association call this event, has big ambitions - they like to call it "the planet's biggest beach party." They also like to provide something to appeal to everyone on two stages that run all day and well into the evening - and will be accompanied by a beach bonfire at night for the first time this year.
What To Expect: Today's event features many favorite activities and attractions, including lots of rock and other music from locally known bands, plenty of vendors and crafters to sell food and more, a beer garden and margarita bar and the list goes on and on - and includes a separate stage just for kids' entertainment and activities. A planned 1-mile swim and stand-up paddle boarding event have been cancelled by the Margate City Beach Patrol due to forecasts for large ocean swells today.
Event Info: Rain date is Sunday. Beachstock is scheduled to run 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the beach behind the Margate Library, between Granville and Huntington avenues. Shuttle bus service is available at the Tighe School on Essex and Amherst avenues. For more details, including a complete schedule of activities and entertainment, see marvelousmargate.com
