What a difference a week makes.
Seven days ago, we talked about Sammi's dilemma, her attraction to Ron vs. almost every fiber in her being telling her she should run. I likened it to the pairing of windshield and bug.
Looks like the bug's juiced up.
Because in the second half of Thursday's episode, Ronnie's cheating ways spelled out in black and white (as opposed to the pink font Snooki originally suggested using for The Letter, as if that would've made the message go down smoother), we began to see a change in Sammi Pushover. Suddenly, not only was she talking about being done, she was finally - FINALLY! - acting like it.
"I don't want to talk anymore right now," she says to Ronnie, who's cornered her on her bed. Then, she pushes away and leaves the room. Later, he's trying to make amends - for someone who swears he did nothing wrong, Ron-Ron sure does a lot of apologizing - by doing what any good pol does, skirt the real issue and obfuscate. Only Sammi won't have any of it:
Sammi: "Did you make out with anybody?"
Ronnie: "I told you I-"
Sammi: "Hold on a second. Did you make out with anybody?"
Ronnie: "I told you on the phone-"
Sammi: "Hold on and shut up..."
Ronnie: "To be honest with you, I don't remember making out with anybody..."
Sammi: "No. No. Not, ‘I don't remember.' Yes or no."
Ronnie: "I don't think so, no."
cue a "Jersey Shore" flashback to Ronnie, sloppy-drunk Ronnie mackin' on anything that moves
Sammi: "Did you?"
Sammi: "You didn't make out with anybody?"
cue another excerpt of Ronnie's greatest hits
In the past, Sammi would've rolled over and largely overlooked the body of evidence. Written down, she figured it was true; the fact her housemates bobbed and weaved around the issue like footage from vintage Ali bouts (with the exception of Mike, actually, who when asked by Sammi said simply: "I mean, if it's on paper it happened.") only galvanized it for her.
(It also adds new context for her reported walkout from Season 3 last week. Can you blame her? Find out everyone knew and did nothing and you're still living with them all? How would you feel?)
By the end of the episode, she's still mopey and crying. But she's also laid it out straight for Ron-Ron: "I hope you're happy because you're stupid, You're dumb. You're dumb, you're selfish."
The opening credits introduce Sammi thusly, in her own words: "I'm the sweetest bitch you'll ever meet." I think we're about to find out how true that is. How disappointing will it be if she doesn't live up to the hype?
