Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at local parades

The Atlantic City Fire Department Sand Pipers Pipe Band marches on the Boardwalk during the city’s St. Patrick’s parade Saturday. Read about the parade on C1.

You can probably find a St. Patrick's Day parade somewhere close to you today, because there are three to pick from in local beach towns. North Wildwood starts off the public festivities at 11:30 a.m. with an Irish-accented celebration that leads up to a noon start for the town's parade.

Atlantic City is next in the St. Patrick's parade line - its annual amble down the boards starts at 1 p.m. The parade will include the obligatory pipe bands, as well a string bands, marching bands and floats. This is the 29th anniversary for the parade, which first hit the streets in 1986. This year's grand marshals are Frank Ferry and Thomas Patrick Flynn.

Sea Isle City's parade starts at 3:30 p.m., and ends with live music at the party at the finish line, hosted by KIX-McNutley's, the 63rd Street bar. The parade features pipe-and-drum music as well as Sea Isle's 2014 "Irish Royal Family.
