'Chanukah Fever' rocks Margate's JCC

What Is It: You can find a different kind of holiday celebration tonight at the Katz Jewish Community Center in Margate. Because the Mama Doni Band will lead the party, and it isn't just a party: It's also a fundraiser for local victims of Hurricane Sandy.

What To Expect: The JCC promises a show that's a "celebration of Jewish culture, with musical genres from reggae to rock, pop to disco ... a mix of the classic songs and Chanukah shtick." And everyone in the house gets a holiday gift - a CD from Mama Doni, a Jersey girl who leads a cross-cultral band that won awards for its 2011 CD, "Shabbat Shaboom."

Event Info: The concert runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave., Margate. Tickets $10, or $36 for a family of four. Refreshments, including latkes and doughnuts, are included. A limited edition Sandy relief shirt is for sale, with proceeds to benefit those affected by the hurricane. For more details, see jccatlantic.org or call 609-822-1167.
