High-flying comedy at Cape May Stage
What Is It: "Boeing Boeing" tells the story of Bernard, a swinging young bachelor in 1960s Paris, a time and a place where love is in the air. There's so much love going around in Marc Camoletti's play that Bernard has found it three times - with three lovely airline stewardesses, each of whom he is engaged to.
What To Expect: How Bernard manages that messy situation is the main subject of "Boeing Boeing," which ends its run at Cape May Stage next week. And our hero is doing fine, because his stewardesses - back when they really were called that - all work on different schedules for different airlines. But when improvements in jet technology put all three women on the ground in Paris at the same time, Bernard has to travel around town at jet speed to keep his lives separate and "all his lies straight," as the producers put it.
Event Info: Cape May Stage's showtime for "Boeing Boeing"is 8 p.m. today through Sunday and again Tuesday through Sept. 13 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, Bank and Lafayette streets, Cape May. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students. For tickets or more details, call 609-770-8311 or see capemaystage.org
Halestorm hits House of Blues in A.C.
Who Are They: Halestorm, a four-piece metal band from Pennsylvania, has been making its name on the concert circuit since 2005. The band brings its act to House of Blues in Atlantic City for one show tonight.
What To Expect: Halestorm is led by Lzzy Hale, who has been called one of rock's "hottest chicks" - it says so right on the band's website. Hale calls herself a "child of the 90s" and admits to loving "cheese metal," from the hair-band era of rock history. The rock world is catching up to Halestorm, which won a Grammy award this year for its hit single, "Love Bites (So Do I)" from "The Strange Case of ...," the group's second record.
