Debby Boone sings with Ocean City Pops
What Is It: The Ocean City Pops always opens its season with a celebrity guest, and this year's star is multiple Grammy Award winner Debby Boone, who comes to the Music Pier tonight to sing with Ocean City's all-professional orchestra.
What To Expect: Boone is best known for her breakout smash, "You Light Up My Life," but she has also had a big presence on the New York stage. She played Maria in "The Sound of Music" for Lincoln Center's 30th anniversary and starred in a "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" revival on Broadway. Tonight's Pops performance starts with a clarinet concerto by Matthew Griffith, the first-place winner at this year's Philadelphia International Music Competition.
Event Info: Showtime is 7:30 p.m. for the opening of the Ocean City Pops' 84th season in the Ocean City Music Pier, on the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace. Tickets are $25 and $30; after-show reception at the Flanders Hotel with Boone costs $25 per person. For tickets or more details, visit oceancitypops.org or call 609-525-9248, ext. 17.
