From sinful weeknight misadventures to fist-pumping Hallo-ween blow-outs, Atlantic City's bar and club scene is turned on for the fall season. At the top of the list, promoters say, are many of the so-called "industry night" promotions held at the city's numerous clubs, which offer locals who work in the resort's service industry a chance to get in on the action without breaking the bank.

Industry nights "attract a knowledgeable crowd, a good-looking crowd," said Ricky Green-stein, a former DJ who has designed the concepts be-hind many of Atlantic City's clubs and continues to book celebrity DJs and musical acts for them on a weekly basis. "It's an off night, and it gives everyone who works on the weekend a chance to come and enjoy a night off. It's great, and it's a big draw."

Greenstein was one of the people behind the resort's first industry night promotion, which continues Mondays at mur.mur, one of the night spots at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. The weekly party, which begins at 10 p.m. and doesn't have a set end time, features drink specials and reduced admission for those who work in the hospitality industry.

Industry night at mur.mur has been so successful the concept - booking high profile DJs and marketing a weeknight party - has been exported, including to the resort's other clubs. With the re-opening of mixx, another nightclub at Borgata, came another industry night, which kicks off 10 p.m. Sundays, according to Joseph Lupo, Borgata's vice president of Operations.

"We renovated mixx during the spring, opened it this summer, and started a Sunday night program we never had before," said Lupo.

"Our local customer base is extremely important to us," he said, adding Borgata's Nightlife Rewards program, one of the first of its kind, offers frequent clubgoers room comps, concert tickets and more as a reward for patronizing nightlife establishments.

DJs are brought in from across the country, and the music varies to meet requests from the crowd, especially during industry night promotions, Greenstein said. An "open format" - which includes mixes of electro, hip-hop, rock and house music - is what's offered at nearly all of the resort's weeknight events.

"You read a crowd and gear it towards what the kids really want to hear," Greenstein said.

Across town, the craze has caught on at Dusk, a nightclub in Caesars Atlantic City. Industry nights are held every Tuesday, and the club comes with Greenstein's expert seal of approval. Dusk, he said, was constructed around its sound system, which he considers one of the best in the world.

Dusk also will feature a number of special weekend events this fall, including an appearance by Brody Jenner on Saturday and "A Very Jersey Halloween" on Oct. 30, when $5,000 in prizes will be handed out to those who come wearing blow-outs, hair gel, lip gloss and "excessive bling," according to the club's website. Caesars also is offering discounted room rates to Dusk customers, with rates starting at $79 Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

At Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, the EGO Bar and Lounge has jumped into the fray as well, offering its SINdustry Night promotions every Thursday. The promotion features $3 domestic beers and $2 house wine and cocktails, plus appearances by Almost Angels, a "sexy cover band," according to spokesperson Mary Moyer.

"It's just a great show," Moyer said of the Angels, who she described as similar to the popular group Pussycat Dolls, but with more dancing and interaction with the audience.

On Mondays, EGO transforms from club to sports bar, with Monday Night Football action kicking off early at 3 p.m. with a live broadcast from ESPN Radio's Mike Gil every week.

Other industry nights in Atlantic City include Wednesdays at The Pool at Harrah's featuring DJ Vito G and no cover charge, and Thursdays at Providence at Tropicana Casino and Resort and The Chelsea Hotel's C5 club.

"It's on fire," said Greenstein of weeknights in Atlantic City. "People come from Philly, South Jersey and all around, and it's just a really good night."
