If you accept the old wisdom that we humans should follow our bliss, here's a bit of current wisdom for you:
It's easy to find your bliss Sunday in South Jersey. It will be in Atlantic City, at the Tropicana Casino and Resort - where you just have to follow the signs to the Bliss Bridal Expo.
The eighth annual Bliss is "a free public show and open to anyone getting married, having a civil ceremony, renewing their vows or considering any of the above," says Jamie Hoagland, events and promotions manager for The Press of Atlantic City, the sponsors of an event expected to draw hundreds of potential brides, plus their allies and team members.
One highlight of this year's Bliss is a fashion show, sponsored by Linwood's Dress 2 Impress boutique, that offers a sneak peek at the new line of bridal gowns from Impression Bridal.
The show, in Tropicana's Grand Exhibition Center, will feature the American public debut of the company's fall line of dresses, according to Violeta Deliiv-anova, the owner of Dress 2 Impress, in the Central Square shopping center.
The shop will show off the high-end Impression Bridal's "newest collection, just shipped directly to us," the owner adds.
Plus Bliss has other ways to help you get your bliss on. Joe Canal's Discount Liquor Outlet in Egg Harbor Township will be "sampling wines and champagnes," Hoagland says. And several popular Atlantic City restaurants - among them Buddakan, Phillips Seafood and Ri Ra Irish Pub, also will be cooking and dishing out samples of their cuisine, she adds.
But not everything is so traditional at this bridal show. Among the new vendors who may produce some blushes this year are Scores Atlantic City, in the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, which is promoting a series of "Strip Tease Dance Lessons" and "Pole Dance Group Lessons." Hoagland said Scores hopes to use the sessions to draw bachelorette parties - which have become a big draw for Atlantic City in recent years.
Plus Stefania's Boutique in Ventnor will be showing some off its "lingerie and trendy clothing," Hoagland said.
Other exhibitors include several local country clubs and golf courses that host receptions, plus more wedding venues from Cape May to Ocean City to Atlantic City to Cherry Hill. More than 50 total vendors have registered.
Prizes available to the Bliss crowd include an overnight stay at the Golden Inn in Avalon and a "mini-moon" at Tropicana.
