Don Rickles at Taj Mahal

Who Is He: His admirers call him "Mr. Warmth," and Don Rickles has lots of admirers - even if he has spent the last half-century or so insulting everyone he could think of, from his friends to his fellow stars to his audience. Rickles brings his act back to Atlantic City tonight for one show in the Trump Taj Majal's Mark G. Etess Arena.

What To Expect: If you're a Rickles fan, you know the shtick. The standup guy picks his targets out, he brings them down and then he moves on to the next target - and the next and the next. He's the archetype of the insult comic, but he makes the attack fun for everyone.

Celtic Festival at Cold Spring Village

What Is It: If you're a fan of Ireland and Scotland and other areas of the Celtic Highlands, this is a good weekend to visit Historic Cold Spring Village, just outside Cape May in Lower Township. Because the history-heavy village is celebrating that part of the world with its ninth annual Celtic Festival today and Sunday.

What To Expect: Sure, there are bagpipes, from the Nae Breeks Pipes & Drums Band. And there's more music from acts including Tom Brett, Smitty's Kitchen, Mary Roth, Joe McGonigle and Robert Mouland. Adults may enjoy the pub tent, and the kids will have fun with the fest's first-ever Kiddie Highland Games.

Event Info: Historic Cold Spring Village is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 720 Route 9 South, Cape May. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 3 to 12. For more details, call 609-898-2300 or see

Night in Venice boat parade in Ocean City

What Is It: Night in Venice has to be the most popular event in America's Greatest Family Resort. The bayfront boat parade is back tonight, so you can see why it's such a hit in its hometown.

What To Expect: Humor seems to be the key to Night in Venice, from the goofily decorated boats to their often even goofier-looking crews, to the dressed-up docks and their occupants lining the the parade route, which runs along Bay Avenue from Battersea Road to 16th Street.

Event Info: The parade starts 6 p.m. Look for grandstands for free viewing at many places on Bay Avenue, or visit the Bayside Center, at 520 Bay Ave., for entertainment, a picnic area and food vendors. Bayside Center admission is $7 for adults or $3 for kids. For more details, call 609-525-9248 or see

A day of music at Gardners Basin

What Is It: Historic Gardners Basin, the bayside park in Atlantic City, is hosting a monthly series of free, city-sponsored concerts this summer that feature some big musical names. The music is back today with a crowded bill that includes six acts, most notably "Sly's 'Original' Family Stone."

What To Expect: The day's full lineup features the group New Birth, the Rick Cason Express, Mark "Big & Tasty" Baxter, Jackie Greggs and Kas. The legendary but troubled Sly Stone himself isn't in the standard lineup for "Sly's 'Original' Family Stone," but several veteran members are, and you can expect the show to include such classics as "I Want to Take You Higher," "Everyday People," "Dance To The Music" and "Family Affair."

Event Info: The event is free. The music is set to run 1 p.m. to dusk at Gardners Basin, 800 N. New Hampshire Ave., Atlantic City. Bring a chair or blanket. Vendors are available selling food and drinks. For more details, call 609-347-5643.
