Italian fest in Wildwood, decoy show in Tuckerton among the top offerings At The Shore Today

Decoy & Gunning Show

is for real in Tuckerton

The Ocean County Decoy & Gunning Show has been going on for more than 30 years now, and it has been growing for most of that time. It's so popular that it takes two locations to hold it all, Tuckerton Seaport and nearby Tip Seaman Park, also in Tuckerton, and runs for two days. The draws for the crowds include displays and demonstrations, vendors, more than 50 hunting- and wildlife-related contests and awards, food, antiques, collectibles, the music of the Pinelands, a "dock-dog competition" - and guns and decoys, of course. All in all, the sponsors like to say it adds up to a "celebration of Barnegat Bay life and environment."

Now that's Italian - a festival in Wildwood

The Olde Time Italian Festival is back in Wildwood's Fox Park, and it runs most of today and tonight. This annual tradition includes everything from Italian-flavored music to plenty of Italian-favorite food to more old-school entertainment, including a grape-stomping contest, a spaghetti-eating contest, bocce games and rides for kids. But also take time to visit the Olde World Italian Market, which features Italian-made crafts and more merchandise. Today's music includes shows by the John Walters Band; Wayne & Jamie and the Aquanets; Just in Time; Sonny Averone & Johnny Bones; Tre Bella; and The Skyliners.

If You Go: Free. The Olde Time Italian Festival runs noon to 10:30 p.m today in Wildwood's Fox Park, on Ocean Avenue across from the Wildwoods Convention Center. For details, see or call 609-729-9000.CQ
