Mummers show, Cozy Morley tribute in North Wildwood

What Is It: Philadelphia's beloved string-band tradition is the star attraction at the annual Mummers String Band Saturday today on Olde New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood. But North Wildwood's own legendary Cozy Morley, who died last week, will also be honored in a ceremony at this old-fashioned, good-time block party.

What To Expect: You Mummers fans out there know the deal - look for wild costumes, lively performances and lots of dancing with the music from nine string bands that scored high in this year's Mummers Parade. The most famous dance step at a Mummers show is the "Mummers Strut," which is such a hit that there's even a Mummers Strut contest scheduled at the party. The tribute to Cozy Morley, also known as the "Bob Hope of the Jersey Shore," starts 3 p.m. and leads into a show by the Duffy String Band and the Philadelphia Mummers Chorus - who will no doubt do Morley's signature song, "On the Way to Cape May."

Boardwalk Art Show is back in A.C.

What Is It: An old-time Atlantic City tradition returns to town today. The Atlantic City Boardwalk Art Show revives an event that started in the 1950s and ended in 2000, and drew thousands of artists and art fans to the Boardwalk over those decades.

What To Expect: The center of the art show in Kennedy Plaza will be home to plenty of visual artists selling their work, including painting and sculpture and more, but will also feature jazz concerts and live theater performances. A new addition to the Boardwalk Art Show tradition will be "interactive artists," including a graffitti specialist and a body-painting artist and "speed painting" exhibitions.

Event Info: The show, sponsored by the Atlantic City Arts Commission and the Noyes Museum of Art, runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Rain date is Sunday. Admission is free. The heart of the show is in Kennedy Plaza, across from Boardwalk Hall. For more details, see
