Rock out, help vets at Bader Field music festival

What Is It: VetRock 2013 promises to bring some big names in rock 'n' roll history, plus some much younger acts, together for a long day of music. The bands include Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, The Soul Survivors, The Buckinghams, Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad, among others. But VetRock isn't just about the music.

What To Expect: The host is comedian Joe Piscopo, who also will play with his own band. And the keynote speaker is Oliver North, above, the retired U.S. Marine Colonel who had a high profile in Washington in the Reagan administration and now has his own Fox News show. The sponsor, Michael Merlino of Wiser Charitable Enterprises, plans to use the concert to raise money for veterans' charities and to give Vietnam vets "the welcome home (they) never received."

Strawberry Festival

in West Cape May

What Is It: If you're into strawberries, this is your event. The menu at today's West Cape May Strawberry Festival includes everything from good, old-fashioned strawberry ice cream to some more new-fangled dishes - as in strawberry tacos and strawberry barbecue sauce for ribs.

What To Expect: But there's much more than food going at this popular, annual festival. There's live music from acts including Robin Hippell and Amy Hufana, the Too Trio and Mark Jacopec and his drumming troupe. Look for strawberry T-shirts, strawberry hats, strawberry jewelry - and many more crafts, plus some food that doesn't have a single strawberry in the ingredient list. Oh, and of course they'll crown a Strawberry Queen, and a King, at 3 p.m.

Event Info: The West Cape May Strawberry Festival runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in Wilbraham Park, at the intersection of Broadway, West Perry and Sunset streets. Rain date is Sunday. For more details, call Diane Flanegan at 609-884-9325.

Terry Fator brings a bit of Vegas to AC

Who Is He: Terry Fator's got talent. In fact, he won the second season of NBC's "America's Got Talent" competition show, which turned him into an instant star in Las Vegas, and he's showing why tonight at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

What To Expect: It's hard to pigeonhole Fator, whose act has two main parts - he's a ventriloquist who also specializes in celebrity impressions. He has a collection of puppets, some of them characters in their own rights, to do his stable of impressions, ranging from Elvis to Dolly Parton to Justin Bieber, and way beyond.

Event Info: Showtime is 8 p.m. in the Mark G. Etess Arena at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, 1000 Boardwalk, Atlantic City. Tickets are $29 and $45, available at the box office. For more details, see or call 609-449-1000.
