Foreigner at Golden Nugget

Who Are They: Originally formed in 1976 by veteran British guitarist Mick Jones, Foreigner was one of several successful arena rock bands in the late 1970s. Foreigner performs tonight in The Grand at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

What To Expect: Jones is suffering from serious, but unspecified health issues, he may not be appearing with the band tonight. Kelly Hansen is current lead singer of Foreigner. He replaced the original lead vocalist Lou Gramm. The group played in last month in California. Their setlist included the songs "Urgent," "Double Vision," and "Head Games." The Middle Township High School choir won the right to perform the power ballad "I Want to Know What Love Is" when the band plays tonight.

Miss N.J. Pageant

finals in Ocean City

What Is It: Twenty-two contestants compete tonight for the title of Miss New Jersey at the Ocean City Music Pier. The statewide winner will then head in September to Boardwalk Hall to compete in the Miss America Pageant, which returns to Atlantic City after a nine-year absence.

What To Expect: The 80th annual competition features nine contestants from Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties, including Miss Atlantic County Lindsey Giannini and Miss Cape May County Lauren Fogarty. The reigning Miss America, Mallory Hagan, will be a special guest. Ocean City has been hosting Miss New Jersey for 17 years.

Juneteenth in Atlantic City

What Is It: Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in 1865. Today, Juneteenth celebrates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. Juneteenth takes place today in McClinton Park in Atlantic City.

What To Expect: Poets, local singing groups and the Saul to Paul Ministry, right, from Pleasantville will be at the festival. DJ Fah D of Atlantic City will be behind the turntables. Various Atlantic City vendors and artists will be selling their work, including Atlantic City's Nastassia Davis, who will be selling photographic prints of her work and doing light painting onsite. Health, social services and educational information will be available. There will be a pledge wall and recognition of artistically and academically talented students.

Military weekend in Cape May

What Is It: Historic Cold Spring Village hosts its military timeline weekend today and Sunday, which features encampments, weaponry and demonstrations from living history groups depicting various conflicts throughout the centuries.

What To Expect: Event highlights include knights and archers from medieval England, Union and Confederate encampments. World War II Allied and Axis reenactors. Historic Cold Spring Village education and interpretation director Jim Stephens presents his program, The Story of Old Glory, at 2 p.m. today and Sunday. He provides the history of the American flag. Historian Mike Kochan will be dressed as Benjamin Franklin discussing Franklin's military activities and inventions.
