OCEAN CITY — A vote on two resolutions that would bring Vanessa Williams and Gloria Gaynor to perform at the Music Pier will be decided by City Council on Thursday.

The resolutions would put the city under contract to touring agencies representing each artist. Williams and Gaynor are cited by name in memos attached to each resolution, sent from Joseph Clark, the city’s purchasing manager, to Michael Allegretto, director of community services.

According to a memo attached to her resolution, Gaynor would perform with the Ocean City Pops orchestra.

Council will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Williams, the first black Miss America as well as an actress and singer, is known for her role on the 2006-10 ABC series “Ugly Betty” and for the song “Colors of the Wind” from the soundtrack to the 1995 Disney movie “Pocahontas.”

Williams was a head judge at the 2016 Miss America Competition in Atlantic City. She was given a formal apology for being stripped of her 1984 title after nude photos of her were published in Penthouse magazine.

Gaynor is best known for the 1978 disco hit “I Will Survive.”
