Seafarers Celebration in Wildwood Crest
The annual Seafarers Celebration moves to the banks of Sunset Lake for a daylong street festival today. The free party features live music from five bands on two stages, plus crafts and lots of fun food for sale, and much more family-friendly entertainment. The music gets kicking at 10:30 a.m. when Twelve:01 starts playing its classic and progressive rock; and one musical highlight is a 12:30 p.m. show by the B Street Band, which does a popular Bruce Springsteen tribute act - and uses a proud motto, "As New Jersey as it gets!" But also look for karaoke, rock-climbing, a mini-circus, stunt bikers, magic, pony rides, roving performers, face-painting and even a bubblegum-blowing contest, complete with prizes.
If You Go: The Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sunset Lake, on New Jersey Avenue from Rambler to Miami avenues. For more information, see visitwildwoodcrest.com or call 609- 523-0202.
There She Is - sort of; Miss'd America in A.C.
Some locals were thrilled when Miss America came back to her roots in Atlantic City. But Miss'd America, the drag-queen parody of the pageant, had made its triumphant return to town a few years ago, and that made some fans even happier. Because let's just say that Miss'd America takes itself a bit less seriously than that other pageant does - to the point where Miss'd can be a scream. You can also expect a show, and that's not just on stage at the House of Blues, this year's new Miss'd America venue.
If You Go: Showtime is 8 p.m. in House of Blues at Showboat Casino-Hotel, 801 Boardwalk, Atlantic City. Tickets are $45, $65 and $100, all proceeds benefit the Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance and the Schultz-Hill Scholarship Foundation. For more details, see atlanticcitynj.com/
